Lines
These are lines in the floor created by pouring concrete.
Texture
This is the wall outside Walker. The texture was created when they stuccoed the wall.

Space
The lid to the trash can creates a 3d space in which air can move and items can fit.

Shape
Although it is a 3d object the outline of the window frame is a rectangle.
Emphasis
When looking at this picture my eyes are drawn towards the middle spartans sign which stands out as the emphasis of the picture.

Balance
When they built the building it created balance on both sides with an equal number of trees and windows on each side.
Movement
Your eyes follow the top ridge and then move down the tall pillars to create movement in the picture.

Harmony
As the hallway progress the balance of frames and carpet designs create harmony to the overall flow of the hallway.

Proportion
When looking at the first light it appears to be really big but as your eyes move down the lights appear to get smaller in proportion.

Rhythm
The swooping arches create rhythm that pulls the eye along them.
Unity
As this multimedia waterfall brings all these elements together it creates a unity between all of them.

Color
Although this book doesn't offer every color it demonstrates a few colors.

Variety
Sykes Chapel uses a variety of shapes and 3d forms to create this wonderful building.

Perspective

This is the scene of a kidnapping from the perspective of the victim. The kidnapper is putting the victim in the trunk of their car and forcing the trunk shut. At the same time, the victim is fighting for their life and using all of their strength to keep the trunk from shutting and trapping them inside. The scene is taking place in a parking garage where he victim is terrified and witnessing their possible last breaths of fresh air. The person in the trunk is at the mercy of the kidnapper and we see this from the perspective of the victim.

#1 Wendy and Elizabeth
The point of view from the cigarette. We really like this piece, we liked how they circle around the picture had a ring of fire to add to the dramatization of the picture. Also the fact that the cigarette was not a perfect circle really helped the visual appeal of the picture and helped the cigarette appear more realistic. This was our number one because it was the most creative and we saw nothing like it.

#2 Spencer and Ben
The cake’s perspective of the baker. We liked how they dressed the part for the picture. The details in the picture were nice. We like this perspective because you never know what the perspective looking out of an oven looks like. This was a different view. We thought this was well done and an interesting view. However, we don’t know that it is a cake being baked. This was our number two because it was creative and a cool perspective.

#3 Stevie and Megan
The boyfriend perspective through the peephole. After looking at all three pictures we understood what was being portrayed. The idea needs all the pictures in order to tell the story about the perspective. We looked at the guy first, that’s where our eyes were drawn to. Conceptually the picture is good; the text message stands out starkly so putting a filter on it would improve it. This was our third because we really like the concept of the picture, it was unlike anything we had seen.

#4 Michael, Connor, Dominic
The view from the goalie. It was very obvious what was being presented in this picture. We like how the team is in the background and a game is being played. We think it could have been more affective with hands out in front so that we know it is the goalie and not the net. This photo was well done, especially the drama going on in the background. This is our fourth because it was well done with details.

#5 Frank and Tara
Perspective of the sandwich. We like the view from the sandwiches point of view. We also liked all three of the pictures together, it really brings the concept together. The process is clear what is going on and being portrayed. We interpreted it in the column format from top to bottom. Very blunt in its interpretation. This is our fifth because it was simple but the perspective was clear.

#6 Peter and Andrea
Behind the counter at Pandini’s. Wanted to see the view from the workers perspective behind the counter. It would be understood more if the angle was different. Being more towards the middle of the counter would allow us to interpret that it was the view of worker. This was our sixth because it was clear what the idea was.

#7 Liz and Kofi
What goes on in someone’s mind. The “tripiness” This is a picture that takes us into the mind of someone. At first we had no idea what was going on in the picture. We don’t think that its necessarily into this persons mind. The peephole throws the picture off because it’s supposed to be into someone’s mind. Very creative but there could have been a different way of presenting the information. This was our seventh because we didn't quite understand the picture at first but with the explanation.

#8 Mikayla and Jennifer
The last picture was our favorite, it was the strongest. We like the view behind the dancer because its less clichĂ©. It’s not a view that people normally see unless they are behind the stage. Having all three pictures up was confusing for us because we weren’t sure what was being interpreted. With the eye exam picture we were a bit confused. It would have been more affective without the extra white space. This was our eighth because we weren't sure what the three pictures were trying to portray.

#9 Alex and Erin
Student perspective of studying at the library. The message is pretty blunt, it is obvious what is going on here. There aren’t many layers underneath this photo but the message is being portrayed. They did a good job relating to the audience.  This was our ninth because it was somewhat of a basic idea, but it was very clear and a good perspective.

Self/ Peer Evaluations
Erin Brockman - A. Erin gets an 'A' because she contributed to the concept of the group project and did the writing of the process and synopsis. She worked to put all of our ideas on to paper.

Alex Medvedev- A. Alex gets an 'A' because he contributed to the concept of what we wanted to depict. He also helped summarize all of our ideas and helped Erin create a good synopsis.

Michael Womack- A. Michael gets an 'A' because he filmed the entire video that we created. He also edited all the videos and voice memos and created one concise video with iMovie.

Ben Dreiker- A. Ben gets an 'A' because he acted everything out in the video, he also did the music for our video on the piano. It was Ben's creative idea to use a piano to depict what we were trying to say.

Berkley Whaley- A. I get an 'A' because I acted as well in the video, I helped somewhat with the music, and contributed to the concept.

Overall, we all equally contributed to the success of our group project, and deserve the grades I just listed. I enjoyed working with this group of people.
Process
From the beginning, we knew that we were interested in a creating a video or a short film because we believed this would be the most concise and clear way of including all the themes we have learned. While brainstorming it came to light that Ben is a talented piano player, and he was interested in using this talent to make a strong video. Once we centered the idea around Ben playing the piano and using sounding, many ideas started to flow creating an elaborate theme.
Synopsis
We centered of our video around the ideas of unity, life and death, which we used music to express. The video starts of with Ben walking in the room with the piano, when he reaches the piano he begins to play harmony of the song “Heart and Soul”. After playing alone for a short time, Berkley enters and begins to play the melody. The two playing “Heart and Soul” together is symbolic, showing unity. While playing together the music speeds up and the mood is that of joy, which we believe shows life. After the song concludes, the mood shifts and Berkley leaves the scene. Ben remains alone, playing Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony somberly, and then finally ending in an aggressive manor. The scene goes black followed by applause.
Catalogue
Art of Seeing: This is shown during the wide pan from the characters to the room. This shows the environment which setting the mood of the video.
Point of View/ Perspective: We used multiple perspectives through out the film, for example there is a view from the sheet music showing the faces of the players. There are also multiple shots of the players from different angles.
Metaphor: This was first shown in a more obvious fashion using Ben and Berkley’s skin tones of black and white, as well as the black and white keys to show unity. This is shown in a less obvious manor by the unity of “Heart and Souls” harmony and melody.
Multi-frames: Through out the film there is a progression of Ben entering the shot to play the piano, Berkley entering the shot to play with him, and Berkley leaving Ben to play alone.
Framing the Image: This was shown when the frame was cropped just to show Ben’s hands playing the piano.
Reduction Form/ Symbol: This is shown when the camera zooms in on the piano keys, emphasizing their black and white form.
Life and Death: This idea was shown in the music choices. Life is identified with the unity of Berkley and Ben with a happy song, death was identified when Ben played alone with a tragic song.
Sound/ Audio: The use of sound is clear through the video with the use of the piano. We also used applause to signify the end of the video.
